BCITO 2010 Outward Bound Scholarships
Each year, the BCITO offers four Outward Bound scholarships (including travel to and from Anakiwa) to BCITO apprentices completing a National Certificate in a specialist trade, who meet certain criteria.
At the BCITO, we are committed to recognising excellence and promoting leadership skills in the building and construction industry. The purpose of these scholarships is to help develop your potential and help you become industry leaders of the future. This programme will give you the chance to develop new skills and realise your potential. It will also aid in motivating you to set career goals.
Construction Watch at Outward Bound 2009
Applicant requirements:
- Applicants must be registered into a current training agreement with the BCITO
- Candidates should be between 18-26 years old at the time of application (Outward Bound requirement)
- Accepted participants must complete a medical clearance through a GP as part of the Outward Bound enrolment process.
- Accepted participants must have a minimum fitness - to jog 3km in under 25 minutes, plus complete a full day of activities*
- Applicants must have employer confirmation that leave will be granted for the duration of the programme (21 days during August/September of the year of their scholarship)
- Short-listed candidates may be required to be part of a telephone interview
- The awarded Outward Bound course is not transferable
- Applications close 31st March each year
- By submitting an application the applicant has accepted the terms and conditions of the programme
- In making application for this programme, the applicant agrees that the panel may contact the trainee's BCITO Training Advisor, their workplace assessor, their employer and referees to confirm details of the applicant's application.
