Apprentice Profile:
I’d been working in frame and truss for a couple of years before I did my apprenticeship, and I kind of felt that I needed to do something...
Frame and Truss
Frame and truss fabricators make the pre-nailed framing sections of walls and trusses that are delivered onto a construction site for the builder to erect. They generally work at a manufacturing plant, but occasionally they need to visit construction sites for specialised and remedial work.
National Certificate in Frame and Truss Manufacture (Level 3)
What skills will I learn?
After covering general skills and knowledge you’ll focus on developing specific skills in the manufacturing process. You’ll be learning to operate and maintain machinery specific to manufacturing frames and trusses.
You’ll learn to work as part of a team as there’s a process to follow throughout the production phase – so you need to rely on your colleagues to make sure everyone’s getting it right first time.
How long will it take?
Depending on your skills and ability, to become fully qualified with a National Certificate in Frame and Truss manufacture will take you about one year.
