If you are looking to employ a young person or school leaver as a BCITO apprentice then you should talk to them about a BCITO Modern Apprenticeship.
A BCITO Modern Apprenticeship is for people age 16 - 21 years who are completing a Level 3 or 4 National Certificate qualification. A BCITO Modern Apprenticeship is available in nearly all sectors of the building and construction industry.
Just like regular BCITO trainees, a BCITO Modern Apprentice learns their trade on the job under the guidance of a skilled professional - their employer or supervisor.
The main difference between a BCITO Modern Apprentice and a regular BCITO trainee is that a Modern Apprentice is that a variety of extra services are available for Modern Apprentices, removing the difficulties that have prevented employers training young people in the past.
What BCITO services will you receive if you employ a BCITO Modern Apprentice?
Employing a Modern Apprentice gives you access to additional services which will assist both your apprentice and your business to meet your goals.
- The BCITO can assist you to find a motivated and enthusiastic Modern Apprentice.
- The BCITO will appoint a Modern Apprentice Coordinator. This person will act as a mentor to your Modern Apprentice, providing support and advice throughout their apprenticeship.
- Your BCITO Modern Apprenticeship Coordinator will work your apprentice to assess his or her specific learning needs. We will work through an evaluation process and provide feedback and advice on any areas that they may require additional help or tutoring.
- If your Modern Apprentice does need extra tutoring, in many cases this can be arranged at no cost.
- We will develop a personal training plan for you Modern Apprentice which sets goals and outlines exactly what your apprentice needs to learn to achieve their qualification.
- Throughout the BCITO Modern Apprenticeship we will closely monitor your apprentices' progress to ensure they are staying on track - visiting you onsite 4 times a year and staying in touch each month.
- Your Modern Apprenticeship Coordinator will also be available to provide support and advice during the apprenticeship and can help sort out any issues which may arise between you and your apprentice.
- These extra services are all part of the Modern Apprenticeship programme.
