SkillEX is New Zealand's ultimate work skills competition, and in November six young carpenters will "go for gold" at the three-day SkillEX 2002 National Final.
Following a series of regional competitions organised by Youth Skills New Zealand (YSNZ), the competitors have been selected to compete for the national Carpentry title at SkillEX 2002. Also up for grabs is an opportunity to represent New Zealand at the WorldSkills Competition in Switzerland in June 2003.
The SkillEX Carpentry Competition is sponsored by BCITO.
"It is beneficial to the industry and competitors because it sets a high standard of workmanship", say Albie Lund, CEO of YSNZ. "As a whole the building industry can use local and national competitions to monitor the level of their trainees".
The young joiners will be among 120 competitors competing for gold, silver and bronze medals in 20 trades at SkillEX 2002.
You are invited to visit SkillEX National Finals during the three-day competition. "Watching the competitors will stimulate and invigorate young people into realising that a skill-based career can be very rewarding," says Albie Lund.
