National Certificate in Solid Plastering - how do I achieve it?
There are two areas of training required to achieve the National Certificate in Solid Plastering. These are:
- Area 1 - covering general skills applicable to the building and construction industry. They cover areas such as first aid, health and safety, scaffolding and safe use of hand and power tools.
- Area 2 - covering the industry specific unit standards, which test your skills and knowledge of solid plastering, trade tools and materials. Also required are skills in the preparation of surfaces for plastering, preparing and coating substrates, applying plaster to walls and soffits on site, applying finishing coats to surfaces and plastering a variety of floor surfaces on site.
The National Certificate in Solid Plastering is not based on the number of hours you work. Completing an apprenticeship in Solid Plastering is all about gaining skills and developing your knowledge of the industry and knowing what is required to be a competent solid plasterer.
Once all unit standards have been completed you receive a National Certificate in Solid Plastering.
